LUCERNE – The City. The Lake. The Mountains.
A day in Lucerne, Shopping, Sightseeing & Chilling out in open terrace restaurants. So I am here again…
I have always admired Switzerland as delectable birthplace of Toblerone and Raclette, Shopping of Swiss watches, snow capped mountains.
The date with Lucerne city was sealed the day I saw a perfect picture postcard of Lucerne and made my mind to see it for myself. Here I am in Lucerne, where all surroundings turn everything into some sort of a painting.
On your first day in Lucerne, you can relax and keep it for free and easy. Check in hotel, refresh and move out of hotel to stroll alongside the mesmerizing lake and from the Chapel bridge till old town. Everything in Switzerland is awe arousing. Set out for a stroll…
One of the highlights being Chapel Bridge… a must photo stop Its the oldest wooden bridge in Europe(covered). Do not miss the paintings (which got destroyed by fire many years ago).
Just before the bridge, there is a famous Watch store: BUCHERER : Visit the boutique at Schwanenplatz and admire its selection of luxury watches and ultimately you can not resist buying them.
Just in the next lane to this store: few steps ahead DO visit Casagrande Shop. Easy to locate on Schwanenplatz between the lake and the old town. It has a large range of Swiss souvenirs like cuckoo clocks, colored Swiss cows with beautiful patterns. Wooden cows, cow bells, Swiss army knives… (you can also get engraving Free on your purchase), watches and much more options spread over three floors.
Now after shopping …. I can see you are feeling tired and hungry… Isnt’d???
Ok… So you are at a place: where you will see many restaurants with open terraces… go to anyone and try some local specialties… like: Fondue or Raclette or Alpine cheese macaroni and selection of warm breads… yummy!!!
Walk back to your hotel (if its with in walking distance or else take a cab)…. burn some calories taking in some super fresh air…
Hotels recommended: Astoria/ Radisson Blu / Monopol/ Des Balances/ Waldstatterhof or similar
